After a near fatal car crash leaves him scarred both physically and emotionally, Matt Harmon finds the solitude of his huge, lonely house too much to bear. Hiring nurse James Hayden to look after him seems like the best idea for Matt, whose fierce independence has been compromised by his injuries. The two men clash from the start as James struggles to help Matt rebuild his shattered body and heal his crushed soul. The bond they form is forged in fire and ice, and the wounds they inflict on one another can only be erased by Matt's admission that he can't live without James's loving touch. Will Matt realize too late that James is the only one who can rescue him from himself?

My Review

WOW just WOW... this was a tension filled love hate relationship and I spend nearly all of the book on the verge of tears just because Matt was so sad and out of touch with his feelings. I could see he wanted desperately to be love and to love but his only response was to push everyone away. My heart hurt for him and it also hurt for James because he got treated so badly.
This story drew me right in, not that you can tell, by the end of it I was holding my breathe and and crossing my fingers and anything else I could cross in the hopes of Matt breaking through his emotional issues before it was too late. Now as much as I would like to tell you the out come of this I wont because you need to read this book!!! It will rip your heart out and make you beg for more. I have to say that yes I am a glutton for punishment because I am now rushing to buy more book by this author to see if she will rip my heart out again!!

  2. I don't know if this book is one particularly of my tastes, but it does seem one where it could be relateable to me in the aspect of the pushing people away (I wrote a post about this on my blog, if you are interested). While I may pass on reading this book - I must note that I find it great when authors cover psychological issues with people in romance novels instead of making it unrealistic & unrelateable. Thanks for the review! :)
